Helen L. Malone, 80, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 16, 1945 in Springfield, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Reed) DePriest. Helen was full of kindness and compassion, tending to patients at a local nursing facility for several years and then later devoting that purpose to family and friends. Her favorite past times were shopping, going to garage sales, listening to music, playing dice, sitting in her swing, watching scary movies, and telling ghost stories. Her family looked forward to the holidays all year long so they could enjoy her homemade noodles. More than anything, she valued family, especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carmen Sue Malone; 15 siblings; and her parents. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Herman Ray Malone; four sons, Herman Ray Malone, Jr., Lloyd Albert Malone, Raymond Lee (Terri Sue) Malone, and Kin Allen (Heather) Malone; six grandchildren, Mallory (Matt) Teders, Robert Lee Rees, Chelsea (Bryan) Ragon, Gary Malone, Jake Malone, and Payton Malone; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She asked that they keep each other close, check in on each other, and show up when it matters most. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Fletcher Chapel Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.jkzfh.com
